DESCRIPTION
The quintessential British boulevard car...
Envisioned as a luxury sports car, the Triumph Stag was designed to compete directly with the Mercedes-Benz SL class models. All Stags were four-seater convertible coupés, but for structural rigidity - and to meet new American rollover standards of the time - the Stag required a B-pillar ""roll bar"" hoop connected to the windscreen frame by a T-bar. A removable hardtop was a popular factory option on early Stags and was later supplied as a standard fitment.
This well restored, very early Mark I Triumph Stag finished in gleaming Damson is now being offered for sale, and comes with a full photographic record of its rebuild and being a manual with overdrive is highly desirable. Manufactured in early December 1970, it is believed to be one of the first 1,000 models off the production line and retains all the original features of the early cars. There is a good history file and the current vendor has spent just over £4,000 in the last 18 months, including a new stainless exhaust, clutch, full roof and many other incidental items. Stags tend to vary quite considerably when it comes to condition, but this one appears really excellent.
