1971 Porsche 911 2.2 S

As we all now know, the introduction of the Porsche 911 in 1963 was the start of a fantastic era of a legendary sports car. As the 911 evolved it improved and the early air cooled cars have now become very collectable and this is particularly the case with the 'S' derived models that featured the more powerful engine derivatives. In 1969 the longer wheel base was introduced and fuel injection was offered on the performance 'S' versions in 1970/'71, along with Fuchs alloy wheels and a discreet front spoiler.

This left hand drive 1971 Porsche 911 is an original 2.2 S that has recently been nut and bolt restored by leading UK Porsche specialists, Francis Tuthill. The shell has been stripped down and re-painted in it's original colour and all the mechanicals have been overhauled and replaced where necessary, whilst retaining the original parts for period accuracy wherever possible. This no expense spared process, which took Francis Tuthill close on 12 months, was completed in 2011 for the vendor who is a serious overseas collector.

Both the engine and gearbox were rebuilt as part of the process with new parts fitted as required and a photographic record of all work carried out kept for posterity. All bills and receipts detailing the recent work carried out are available for inspection (totalling well over £50,000) and confirm the level of detail applied to the project and the determination to retain the car's original specification.

Since completion the car has covered just 500 km's and is now ready to use and be enjoyed this Summer for serious European driving and touring. What a way to join in the celebrations of the 911's 50th birthday!
