1973 BMW E9 CSI Coupé

This very rare and original series 1 manual CSI is finished in its original colour of Granatrot Red metallic with black interior. This is a genuine fuel injected 200bhp example also TMY 78M is one of only 207 right-hand drive manual CSI's built. The last owner purchased the car in 1984 and spent many thousands over the years keeping it in excellent condition. A major and very costly body restoration took place in 2002, which addressed all of the typical weak areas of the E9 model. Significant attention was paid to the inner sills, outer sills, wings, A pillars, doors, bonnet, boot lid and lower valences.

More recently, the current owner has completed a large amount of additional work over a period of three years. This has been carried out by E9 specialist MJF Engineering and Little Compton Garage. Works included interior refurbishment with new carpets, head lining, a restored original steering wheel, various trim parts and a dashboard wood refurbish.

Furthermore, a full brake rebuild including new calipers, pipes, discs, pads, hoses, handbrake cables and fluid was carried out recently. The electrics have been refreshed to make the car more reliable on a day-to-day basis, including upgraded alternator, new fully electronic ignition, new starter motor, distributer cap, rotor arm, new fuel pump, updated fuel filter, modern relays, transponder immobiliser and an under-bonnet cut-off switch to help easily disconnect the battery for when the car is not being used.

The owner has been strict in keeping the car to original specification throughout. The full list of items either restored or renewed is too long to list but no stone has been left unturned to create this excellent CSI. The vendor reports it drives really well and handles the corners with ease. It is supplied with a full UK MoT test certificate and a stack of bills and history dating back to when then car was new. The second owner was in fact the-then managing director of Lloyds of London.
