DESCRIPTION

The MG Midget is a small two seater sports car produced by MG division of the British Motor Corporation from 1961 to 1979.

The first version was essentially a slightly more expensive badge engineered version of the Austin-Healey Sprite MKII and retained the quarter-elliptic sprung rear axle from the original Sprite. The engine was a 948cc A-Series with twin SU carburettors producing 46hp.

Once evolved, the MG Midget Mk.III sported a 1275cc engine using the development seen on the Mini-Cooper 'S'. Cosmetically improved, the hood was now permanently attached to the car, with an improved mechanism making it much easier to use. There were minor changes to the body in 1969, with the sills painted black and a revised recessed black grille.

Many consider the round-arch Midgets, such as this, with chrome bumpers produced between 1972 and 1973 to be the most desirable

Having been stored for over ten years, the car offered here was recommisioned in March 2006 as a wedding gift for the vendor's wife. At that time, the indicated mileage was 15,550, believed to be genuine; however sadly there are no documents to prove this. The car is said to drive splendidly, starting on the first time of asking. Mechanically, the engine is reportedly very tight, pulling well in all gears and producing no smoke. The interior is in overall good condition, as is the hood. Generally, the bodywork and paint are sound but could benefit from light cosmetic improvement if one intended usage beyond everyday-fun top-down motoring in a relatively inexpensive and cheap to insure classic...This Lot is sold with accompanying V5C registration certificate and fresh MoT test certificate.
