DESCRIPTION

In 1964, the Porsche 911 first entered production, the timeless design being a result of the work of Ferdinand 'Butzi' Porsche and the company's joint founder and chief body engineer Erwin Komenda. The 911 soon became a car renowned for its driveability, featuring rack and pinion steering, torsion bar suspension and disc brakes front and rear. Early 911s were powered by a dry-sump, air-cooled, 2-litre, flat-six engine mounted at the rear and mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Over the years 911s developed slowly and in 1969 the engine capacity was increased to 2.2-litres. This unit was offered in three levels of tune, namely: T (125 bhp), E (155 bhp) and S (180 bhp).

This rare 2.4 911T Targa was delivered in 1973 and is a UK right-hand drive example, finished in Sepia Brown with matching Sand upholstery and corduroy panels, a combination it retains to this day.

Presented in excellent condition this embryo Porsche has clearly led a cosseted life and is fitted with the rare option of Porsche's advanced Sportomatic gearbox making the car especially usable in all circumstances.

Still wearing its original, and rather appropriate, registration number TUY 911L, the car comes with a good history file containing a copy of the September, 2013 issue of Classic Porsche Magazine in which our little Porsche features.

Early 911s are becoming exceptionally sought after in the current market and this rare RHD, 2.4 example is where it's all happening.
