DESCRIPTION
The 1973 Porsche 911 is considered by all knowledgeable Porsche enthusiasts to be the single best 911 of all time. This is high praise when you consider the large number of 911 models that have been built over the 50+ years since the model's introduction. The Carrera RS (Renn Sport) is still to this day the benchmark 911, the beautiful lines only being matched by the sheer delight of driving it, with its positive steering, exhilarating sound and linear performance. Built before the American "ugly bumper" era and the oil/fuel crisis, the RS had a purity of purpose that was not compromised by outside factors. For this reason, the Porsche RS Replica market has grown enormously and demand is far outstripping the supply of quality machines.
This original 1973 "F' series 911E Coupe, was built in March 1973 at Zuffenhausen in right-hand drive for Isaac Agnew, the Porsche dealer for Northern Ireland and was registered there in April 1973. Offered here today, chassis number 9113200938 is now fitted with an original Carrera RS engine from 1974.
'834 MAE' has now covered 115,432 miles, as verified by a file of old MOTs, and has been owned since 1985, at which point it had covered 79,951 miles, by a long established and respected Porsche Specialist. During their ownership, it competed very successfully without damage in the Giroflex Porsche Championship for road-going Porsche 911s in 1985 & 1986 and was then subsequently used for sprint and hill climb events all over the country. Restored from the ground up in 1998 by the marque specialists, this RS is still in fantastic condition with a gentle patina and in its current form, weighing in at under 1000KG, remains very very fast!! Finished in Grand Prix White with blue Carrera side scripts, this RS remains faithful to the original and retains lightweight panels, a ducktail engine lid, RS front & rear bumpers, black lightweight RS interior -without soundproofing, M471 (RS) door panels, manual window winders, a 'Durant' door mirror, 935 "lollipop' seats with Willans harnesses, a Moto-lita steering wheel, period half roll cage and the correct fire extinguisher. Powered by an original Carrera RS engine from 1974 - engine number 6641448, type number 911/83 - with its original Carrera Bosch mechanical fuel injection. The engine was completely uprated during the restoration and being a '7R' crankcase was fitted with new 2.8 litre high compression Mahle pistons and barrels, giving 240BHP. The original 1973, 915, 5 speed gearbox is used with a cable operated lightweight clutch and flywheel and the alloy wheels are correct period original Porsche Fuchs 7" and 8". Suspension is all original with Porsche/Bilstein shock absorbers front and rear, "Turbo' torsion bars are fitted and the brakes are original Porsche/ATE 'A' & 'M' callipers respectively. Finally, to complete the specification there is an 85 litre long range fuel tank fitted with a space saver wheel, the original tool kit and original tyre compressor.
An original 1973 Carrera RS is out of reach for anyone but those with the deepest of pockets, but this car has so many of the dynamic properties of the 1973 icon, and is presented in excellent condition throughout. 834 MAE is offered with a fresh MoT certificate, Swansea V5, freshly serviced along with a brake fluid change and a new battery, and this incredible motor car is now ready for its next lucky owner to cherish and enjoy in equal measures.
Registration number 834 MAE is included in the sale of this car.
