DESCRIPTION

Porsche produced the 911E from 1969 to 1973. It was designed to be the more comfortable and drivable of the 911 range fitting in between the 911T (Touring) and the 911S (Super). The designation 'E' came from the German for injection: einspritzung. The mechanical fuel injection system (MFI) was used on the 911E and the 911S and developed jointly between Bosch and Porsche. The benefits were better power and drivability with a cleaner running engine. The interior had a few more comfort features, better brakes and gold script on the engine cover.

Offered here is a beautiful F series Porsche 911E finished in the most period combination of Roman purple with Tan interior. The car has been subject to a very comprehensive restoration that was carried out by the previous owner who purchased the car with a light restoration in mind. As with most refurbishments the initial plan soon turned into a full blown restoration. The work was entrusted to DMG Coachworks in Surrey and any corroded metalwork was replaced. When it came to rebuilding the engine, renowned specialist Nick Moss deemed that the original crank cases should be replaced (the originals can be supplied with the car to maintain the provenance if required). It was fully rebuilt with barrels/pistons, crankshaft, cam shafts, chains, carriers and hydraulic tensioners. The engine pulls strongly and a rolling road test confirms it produces one brake horse over the quoted 165bhp from new. The gearbox was rebuilt and a new clutch and flywheel were fitted. The brakes and suspensions were completely overhauled. Interior Porsche specialist, Southbound, were instructed to produce the new interior and refurbish the seating in the original colour of Tan (502). In all, a great deal of expenditure has gone into making this a very fine Porsche 911E. It comes complete with all invoices, correspondence to endorse the history and is MOT'd until August 2015.

With the early Porsche 911 story showing no signs of tiring the values just keep rising. Guided at 50% of an average 911S this 'E' represents value at our guide today.
