DESCRIPTION
This light-yellow 1973 matching numbers 911T Coupe was first sold by the Porsche Centre in New York. It was purchased new by a Blue Angels fighter pilot (the US Red Arrows), who drove the car under the Virginia license plate of “Blue 8” for the first 12 years of its life. In fact, a team sticker remains to this day on the rear glass. 105,000 miles later, the car was sold to its second owner Chester E Wright, who kept and lovingly maintained this car for the next 28 years keeping every single servicing receipt, as well as all the annual safety and emissions inspection certificates right up until its last US inspection on 15/08/12. Over these three decades the car was garaged and used conservatively as a weekend driver clocking up only around 1,500 miles a year, as all the inspection certificates testify. During this period the car underwent a top engine rebuild by Porsche specialists Stoddard of Ohio in December 1995. A receipt for $5,900 can be found in the history file. In June 2013 the car was brought over to London by its third and current owner for a sympathetic but meticulous restoration. First stop was Porsche specialist Chris Turner for a major service. With bills for £12,000, this included a comprehensive overhaul of the engine, brakes, suspension, running gear, gearbox (stripped, cleaned and rebuilt), fixing of cold start, and a new set of tyres. Finished off with a comprehensive road test, rubber-stamped with an MOT. Next up was the bodywork, where this last of the line pre-impact coupe, underwent a "best in show" bare metal re-spray in its original light yellow (code 6262), with every detail religiously documented in supporting pictures and receipts for over £11,000. Finally, a three month visit at the beginning of 2014 to Southbound Trimmers saw the car's interior completely restored. Originally it had a black leatherette interior, (documented in the accompanying Certificate of Authenticity) and Southbound Trimmers were instructed to follow the precise original spec to the letter, including a re-trim of the front and rear seats, full carpet set, new door panels, head liner, dash top and original Blaupunkt Radio at a cost of £7,000. This exceptional non-sunroof Coupe is supported by a bulging file of receipts & certificates, current MoT, a spare key and an original manual. The term 'best of breed' is a hard label to place on any car, however, this stunning example certainly lives up to that saying and is a true turn-key proposition for its next owner.
