DESCRIPTION
The Corniche was a development of Rolls-Royce's Silver Shadow and was manufactured between 1971 and 1996. It was assembled and finished in London at Mulliner Park Ward as a continuation of the 1965 Silver Shadow coupe and 1967 drophead, with the Corniche name applied in March 1971. The car used a silky smooth 6.7 litre Rolls-Royce V8 engine, mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission and featured independent suspension with coil springs and hydraulic self-levelling. During its lifetime, a total of only 1,306 would glide smoothly out the doors of Mulliner PW.
The Rolls-Royce Corniche offered today was sold new in the UK and boasts a fantastic history file. The odometer reads 74,670 miles and is supported by a plethora of bills, receipts and correspondence from previous owners. Finished in Seychelles Blue with cream leather hide, this desirable slim chrome bumper model has recently benefited from a bare metal repaint and presents very well. The power operated hood is finished in matching cream and functions correctly. Prior to the auction, it will be treated to a full engine bay detail and interior treatment. Judging by the quantity and comprehensive nature of the service records, this Corniche has clearly been carefully maintained and enjoyed by its previous owners.
Supplied with its original wallet and impressively stamped service booklet, this Corniche offers stylish open-top motoring for a very realistic outlay. We welcome pre-sale inspections and buyers should feel free to contact the office for further details.
Prices for early Corniche models have been steadily climbing in recent years, with many pundits believing that they are still undervalued for what, essentially, is a hand built classic Rolls-Royce convertible fit for royalty... and 120mph according to the factory.
