1974 Jaguar XJ12L series II

The Jaguar 'XJ' saloon was first launched in 1968 as their flagship model. The Series I was produced up until 1973 when the introduction of the Series II provided a leap in build quality, smoothness and efficiency. By the motor show in 1974 the 'L' model was introduced with an extra 4 inches of leg room in the rear. The XJ12L, as offered here, was the top of the range version offering 265 bhp and V12 smoothness, and in 1974 just 4744 were produced.

This completely original car has clearly been cherished and looked after by its 2 owners from new. The history file shows the original invoice from James Windsor and Sons, who are shown to have maintained the car well in to the 1990's. Every MOT certificate is present to confirm the very limited use that this car has seen over the years. The first owner kept the car right up to 2006, when the car was sold with just 4,100 miles recorded, and the mileage today is just 7,600.

It now offers a rare find with this mileage and in this order. Sensibly guided to attract the serious Jag collector, the car is well worthy of close inspection.
