DESCRIPTION

The 911 Carrera 3.0 litre was produced for just 2 years, 1976 and 1977, bringing together several elements from some of their best previous cars. It used the same die cast aluminium crank-case of the famous 2.7 RS Carrera, but the same 3.0 engine as the new 911 Turbo, which had then just been introduced.

Only 3687 cars in total were built worldwide, of which just 1123 were Targa's, and only a very small number of those were produced in right hand drive.

This car was supplied by AFN of Isleworth on the 1st January 1976 as a right hand drive UK 1976 model 3.0 Carrera Targa to Mr. Peter Agg of Trojan Works in Croydon Surrey. (who built the original Mclaren race cars)

It was first supplied as a 'Sportomatic' and finished in Diamond Silver, but much later changed to a 5 speed manual gearbox and re-painted in Porsche '6801' Grey, the same colour as all Steve Mcqueen's Porsche's of the period.

In the late 90's the car was bought by Mr. Gordon Webb and then owned by him, and various members of his family for the next decade, until being purchased by our vendor- who had known the car and it's original history from new. It was apparently restored by Autofarm in 1998 prior to purchase by Mr. Webb and has certainly been fastidiously maintained throughout it's life and 90,000 mile history. The history file contains bills and receipts for extensive maintenance every year dating back to 2001 and the original owners pack and maintenance guide provides some earlier main dealer history. The mileage appears genuine and corrolates to the ownership history, although it is not warranted. The car was re-painted by our fastidious vendor about 12 months ago and is presented fresh from a recent service and MOT. The car is now ready to use and enjoy, drives extremely well and represents a rare version of a truly iconic car that will remain highly sought after and collectable.
