DESCRIPTION
Genuine RS2000, matching numbers and just one registered keeper from new Recent ground up restoration including full engine and gearbox rebuild Bare shell respray to a very high standard in the original colour, Signal Yellow Unmarked black cloth interior with custom upgrades The RS (Rallye Sport) identity has been an important part of Ford's sporting image for a long time. Over the years, the Rallye Sport name has been applied to 19 spectacular road car models, which often proved their point by winning in races, rallies, in rallycross - and in the marketplace. The 'RS' badge has never been applied lightly, for each and every model and derivative has offered outstanding performance, road-holding, vehicle safety, and value for money. RS-badged Fords have always shared a proud sporting tradition and have been built in many different forms. When the Mkll Escort was launched, the RS name continued with the Cosworth-engined RS1800, produced in tiny numbers. More widespread Rallye Sport production was initiated with the RS2000 of 1976 which substituted the diva-ish Cosworth unit for a sturdier 2-litre inline four cylinder, SOHC, 'Pinto' engine, which was mounted longitudinally in the bay, and endowed the car with a 0-60 mph time of 8.5 seconds and a 108 mph top speed. The engineering prowess continued, with the gearbox bolted to the rear of the engine and power fed to the diff by a prop-shaft and then in turn to the rear wheels. A single twin venturi 32/36 DGAV Weber carb was fitted with the option of a 'Group 1' dual Weber 40 DCNF or IDF. The front suspension used independent MacPherson struts with an anti-roll bar and the rear suspension used leaf springs with telescopic dampers. Front mounted discs (solid) and rear drums were used and four-spoke alloy wheels came as standard. The RS2000 on offer today was built in 1977 and has been enjoyed by just one registered keeper from new. Finished in Signal Yellow with a Black interior, this genuine RS2000 has been restored to an extremely high standard of finish and was rebuilt to largely original specification. The shell was completely stripped, rebuilt to factory specification, and all mechanical components either refurbished or replaced. The suspension and brakes were all fully restored and the matching numbers engine was removed, totally rebuilt, and is still yet to be fully 'run in'. The rebuilt Type 9. five-speed gearbox was fitted and all fluids replaced. The result is a car that looks and performs as it would have done when it was delivered on 4th October 1977 through main dealer Lakeland Motors of Kendal to its single careful owner. Supplied with a UK V5C and fresh MoT, this is an amazing opportunity to purchase an exciting useable classic RS that needs for absolutely nothing other than an oil change after 500 miles running in.Contact us for further details and follow this link to see a short video clip; https://youtu.be/9ZbxqvoQ6FM
