DESCRIPTION

The Eddie Stobart liveried Mk2 Escort RS1800 Gp4 'LSV171', is perhaps one of the most instantly recognisable and competitive Historic Rally Cars ever. Built to the ultimate specification for an historic RS1800 by leading specialists Prepfab Motorsport Engineering, this car was driven by Jimmy McRae on the 2006 Roger Albert Clark Rally, winning by a convincing margin. Prior to the event it was tested by the late Colin McRae and his father in the Stang Forest.

Jimmy and co-driver Andy Richardson did their sponsors 'Stobart' proud as they went on to take outright victory in the pre-'81 category of the 2007 British Historic Championship. The list of achievements included outright wins in Tarmac Events including the Rally of Flanders in Belguim.

Having won the 2007 Championship, McRae and Richardson entered the 2007 R.A.C Rally in 'LSV171' and, as expected, were heading for a second victory until they suffered a puncture and were forced to accept the runner-up spot.

The Stobart Escort 'LSV171' was then driven by Alister McRae in the 2008 Colin McRae Memorial Rally where he drove to an outright win in the historic category. The result was all the more impressive when you take into account the fact that this was against drivers such as Ari Vatenen, Hannu Mikkola, Malcolm Wilson and Bjorn Waldegard.

In 2009 the car was sold to Jim Whelan and then treated to a full nut-and-bolt rebuild to show condition, complete with the famous Stobart livery. In keeping with the tradition of naming the company trucks, 'LSV171' is christened "Anna Becky" for the benefit of all the "Eddie Spotters"!

Since the rebuild Jim and co-driver John Atherton have competed on the 2010 and 2011 Rally Clasico Isla Mallorca. The car has also taken part in RallyDay at Castle Combe race circuit.

The car is sold with MSA stage rally logbook and Historic Rally Vehicle Identity Form in period category 3 class D5, plus MoT and tax until May 2014. Should you wish to race in other MSA or FIA events, it is strongly suggested that you consult with the event scrutineer to be certain of the eligibility of this car in it's current specification.

This is an ideal car to continue in competition or as a fantastic addition to a collection as an example of the most iconic rally car.
