** WITHDRAWN** 1977 Lancia Beta Saloon

First registered 16.09.1977, this car was supplied by Lockwood Motor Garage in Huddersfield at a total cost of £3,241.00, the original receipt of purchase is included in the history file. The car is officially listed as a Sedan in Marronne Pas had little use and is presented in great original condition. The perfect daily wearer

arioli; Brown to you and I. The very comfortable interior is trimmed in contrasting cream velour and shows little sign of wear. The car has had one registered owner from new. Originally a 1300, the car was converted to a 2000 twin-cam, with correct five speed gearbox almost 15 years ago and is badged as such.

The car was extensively refurbished around this time. We understand this included a re-trim of the seats, a bare metal repaint and a full rebuild of the twin-cam engine. We cannot categorically confirm this, but were informed that this restoration was carried out by one of the Lancia technicians who had worked for the supplying dealer. At this time the mileage in the speedo was reset to zero; this being the case the mileage is now reading c7,300 miles and the car has a full UK MoT to September 2013.

The car still presents well, save for a small number of stone chips and some cracking to the paintwork. The interior is, as stated, above excellent.

The car benefits from retaining its original Cromodora alloys (incl spare) which are a little pitted in places, but generally present well. The car must be nearly unique in that it has never seen any apparent welding, nor to our knowledge does it require any. We understand the car was heavily treated with underseal and Waxoyl from new and as a result it remains a rare survivor. (Perhaps if Lancia had taken such care....!)

Although currently MoT'd the car has seen very limited use for several years and in our opinion would benefit from on-going fettling to be improved for extensive use. That said, the car is reported to drive remarkably well, the clutch is light, gears select properly, the brakes and steering are tight and direct. The photographs are recent, but probably present the car better than in reality.

Amongst the history are various original documents, including original purchase receipt as stated above, original handbook and service book. Both sets of original keys are present, as are a number of spares which will be included..

** We regret that a mechanical fault (not serious) has developed with this car and it will not make it to the sale. The fault has been traced to a simple over-fuelling at the carburettor but it cannot be dealt with in time so Silverstone Auctions have decided to omit this car from sale.
