DESCRIPTION
The Pininfarina-styled 308 GTB was introduced at the Paris Motor Show in 1975 as a supplement to the Bertone-shaped Dino 308 GT4 and a replacement for the Dino 246. It was designed by Leonardo Fioravanti. The Targa topped 308 GTS was introduced in 1977 and was made famous on the television series "Magnum, P.I'. This 1979 GTS, Chassis Number: F106A30625, was destined for the USA, where the enthusiastic owner, who owned several Ferraris, developed the GTS into a race car. On July 9th 2004 the car was sold to a Mr Alan Bertram who imported the car back to the UK at which point appropriate taxes were paid. The current owner has owned this GTS since 2005 and, over recent years, Ferrari experienced engineers have upgraded the car to a high standard. It competes in the Masters series and is qualified to compete in the Ferrari Challenge race series. The car benefits from a genuine dry-sumped sprint specification engine with four Weber 40DCNF carburetors. The engine has benefited from a complete rebuild last year and has subsequently only competed in one race at SPA. The engine rebuild allowed for all bearings, seals and upgraded pistons with new larger valves fitted, and sprint cam shafts. Oil pressure runs at 80 psi plus. Also fitted to the car are stainless steel exhausts, a new front mounted FIA fuel cell, light weight radiator, new in-date fire extinguisher, new seat and FIA approved seat belts and harness, a new pedal box and F355 disc brakes. The full FIA roll cage gives comparable structure integrity to a hard top car. The owner describes the interior trim as "Good", the coachwork and paintwork as "Very good" and the engine and gearbox as "Excellent". This is a proper racing car. The new owner could, after a sensible nut and bolt safety check, be able to race this car without delay.Alternatively, it may make an excellent fast road car, subject to registration. A history file containing numerous pictures is in our possession.
