Remarks

The (GCAT) original RS shell had a bare metal re spray in 2010, original colour was radiant red with a black vinyl roof, its now signal yellow. The shell has had next to no welding done. The underside is wax oiled for protection. With the engine/gearbox removed, the engine bay and underside of the bonnet had a bare metal re spray in 2022.

Full Aldridge interior was commissioned in 2010 which today looks as new as the day it was installed, this included a new black headlining, black carpet, black Beta cloth rear bench seat and fishnet "Recaro" seats. Period correct Ford P21 radio. Being the "Custom" model, it has the Ford clock in the dash that has been refurbished by Speedy Dials.

Period subtle modifications have been carried out to the Ford Pinto which is currently running at 2.1 litre with 160bhp at the flywheel, this can be and has been dyno’d at 180bhp. Twin (Italian) 40 Webber carbs operated new Rix Engineering throttle linkage and cables. Breathing is by way of a Pipercross air filter and exiting through a Tony Law exhaust manifold and system, Rix Engineering refurbished "Ford" cross member, steering rack, track control arms and engine mounts have been fitted. Part of the power increase is by way of "Kent Cams" high lift cam and vernier pulley with a large capacity radiator and big wing sump. The battery and "Facet" fuel pump have been located to the boot in order to give the engine bay a "cleaner" look. The engine had a full service while at Rix Engineering including a cam belt service.

Period modification was to install a Type 9, 5 speed gearbox which has been done. To help the driver a Hydraulic Helix 4 paddle clutch is installed. The Prop shaft is a Bailey 1 piece prop which was sent back to Bailey to be re balanced and the rear axle is an English axle 3.54:1 with a LSD. All parts have been removed, inspected and reinstalled at Rix Engineering.

Remarks

Again, subtle period modifications have been done. Front brakes are "AP Racing" 4 pot calipers with new drilled discs and pads, while the rear brakes now have Ford Sierra Cosworth rear calipers and discs, both front and rear calipers were stripped and rebuilt. Installed is a Rix Engineering brake bias pedal box, with steel braided hoses and bled Castrol SRF brake fluid. Suspension is by way of Gaz Gold 2 way adjustable dampers front and rear with Gaz Gold Coilovers on the front that are height adjustable, and 146lb single leaf spring on the rear, all suspension components had new rubber mounts fitted. An RS2000 would not be complete without the Ford 6Jx13 RS alloys wheels, these have 185/60/13 Yokohama tyres fitted. All parts have been removed, inspected and reinstalled at Rix Engineering.

Comprehensive history file dating back to early owners. Invoice from Rix Engineering for work completed in 2022. Low owners for this age of vehicle. The vehicle is MOT and TAX exempt and has had a fresh MOT until May 2024, issued with no advisories.

Restoration Notes

The car had a complete bare metal re spray in 2010. The engine bay and under bonnet had another bare metal re spray in 2022 When the engine and gearbox was removed. Mechanically, the RS was totally stripped and rebuilt by Ian at Rix Engineering in 2022.
