DESCRIPTION

In 1978, Porsche introduced their new version of the 911, called the '911SC'and It featured a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder engine with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and a 5-speed 915 transmission. Originally, power output was 180bhp, later 188bhp and by 1981 it had increased to 204bhp.

Built on 01/09/1978, this 911 SC was later sold by Al Veale Porsche/Audi Specialists in Santa Rosa, California to a Mr. Hughes in early 1990. Mr Hughes cherished the car until early 2001 (186,000 miles) at which point it was imported into the UK where it was registered to Karman Ghia Motor Works in March 2001 and they sold it to Mark Sutherland-Gray in April 2001 who in turn sold it to Lynda & Roy Caitlin (Autotronics Developments) in June of 2004. In November of 2005, it then passed to Timothy Gathercole and has been in its current ownership since March 2012.

The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity lists all the options added to this car from new, Fuchs wheels (6” and 7”) which still adorn the car in very good order, the US-spec headlamp rings were colour coded (with the car although European spec lights fitted), sports steering wheel, centre console, power windows, electric passenger mirror, sports seats (brown leather with perforated inlays), electric antenna, black roof liner, rear speakers, rectangular front fog lights, sliding roof.

The colour of this car is listed as 'colour to sample' on the COA but the paint code plaque lists it as '132' which is Medium Ivory. This vehicle has been in dry storage since 2012 with the current owner and will be sold with a full 12 months MOT. There is UK MOT History going back to 2003 to verify mileage from that year and there is also some service history from the USA going up to 1990 at 93,423 miles.

There is a letter from a previous owner Mr Hughes, written in 2007 and detailing works carried out during his ownership telling us that the original gearbox was rebuilt along with the clutch and the engine was rebuilt with new hydraulic tensioners at approx 176,000 miles. Currently, the mileage shown is 197,000. The car itself is in good order with the engine and gearbox having only covered 20k since a full rebuild of both units, the Californian-spec air pumps for the emissions have been removed but are with the car, as are most of the aircon parts.

Since being imported to the UK, this SC has covered a mere 11k miles and has been serviced numerous times. The bodywork looks straight with no obvious signs of damage, and whilst the paintwork is not original, it is the correct colour and a high standard. The internals do not look to have been painted, still having the original stickers in the door shuts and engine bay.

Moving inside the car it is obvious that the seats require some remedial work, the driving seat having some cracks to the leather, however, everything works as it should and the remainder of the Cocoa trim is in fine order.

Generally, this car is very clean and has obviously been a cherished vehicle throughout its life. You would be hard pushed to find a better 'unrestored' car at this guide price.
