1980 Mini 1275 GT

In 1969 British Leyland owned the Mini brand and they wanted to facelift the classic 'round front' Mini. This was launched and called the Mini Clubman. The subsequent Austin Mini 1275GT (1275 is basically the engine size in cubic centimetres) was the Mini Clubman's fastest variant and the one that British Leyland claimed as its fastest Mini of the day. In addition to the standard Clubman the 1275 GT gained Rostyle wheels, a close ratio gearbox, and an additional rev counter. By the end of its production run 110,673 of these performance Minis had been manufactured and have since become very collectable.Just under two years ago this 1275 GT was the subject of a complete body panel and mechanical restoration. The vendor informs us that only genuine British Leyland Heritage panels were used in the rebuild along with the retention of the original sun dimmed glass apart from the front windscreen. Mechanically a replacement low mileage engine has been fitted. Also replaced were both sub-frames and all of the braking components, including braided stainless steel brake hoses, and new callipers with stainless steel pistons. All suspension is poly-bushed and the car is fitted with new gas shocks and adjustable tie bars

A new head lining was professionally fitted, along with a one off dashboard design that retained the original 1275 clocks and binnacle; this is complimented with a complete new carpet set and a quality stereo system with a CD/MP3 connection. There is also a Laserline alarm system. No corners were cut in the restoration of this very collectable Mini and since all the work was completed it has been in dry storage, a superb little motor car.
