**Late Entry** 1981 DeLorean DMC12 - Without Reserve

The story of how the John DeLorean created his new sportscar is quite epic. Having touted his idea to several countries looking for financial support, the British Government eventually offered DeLorean grants and loans of around £80 million in return for production to be based in Northern Ireland.A cult car, made famous by its starring role in the Back to the Future films, the chassis was engineered by Lotus, the body styled by Giugiaro and the V-six engine sourced from Peugeot-Renault-Volvo. It's gullwing doors only added to its dramatic looks which also included brushed stainless steel bodywork. At first the model was a success, but sales quickly dwindled and the company collapsed due to bankruptcy in 1982. 8,583 cars left the factory in Belfast over a two year period and approximately 6,500 survive today.

We're delighted to offer one of the most famous cars from the Silver Screen, the Doc's DeLorean DMC12.Finished in correct brushed aluminium body in all-round good order, this 27,000 mile example performs as you would expect from a low mile and well-maintained car as this is. Well-known in DeLorean circles, this car has spent much of its time in the Staffordshire area save for a long period in an Irish collection where it was lightly used but regularly maintained. A generous history file accompanies this car which is available for inspection with the car at the NEC. This car is offered as a late entry and without reserve as the owner is moving for his job and his beloved DeLorean cannot be accommodated. Viewing is highly recommended.
