DESCRIPTION
In 1978 Porsche introduced their new version of the 911, it was called the '911SC'. It featured a 3.0-litre six cylinder engine with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and a 5-speed 915 transmission. Originally, power output was 180bhp, later 188bhp and then in 1981 it was increased to 204bhp.In 1978 Porsche introduced their new version of the 911, it was called the '911SC'. It featured a 3.0-litre engine six cylinder engine with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and a 5-speed 915 transmission. Originally, power output was 180bhp, later 188bhp and then in 1981 it was increased to 204bhp.
It was during production of this car that Porsche AG decided the long-term fate of the 911. In 1979 Porsche had made plans to replace the 911 with their new 928. But sales of the 911 remained so strong that Porsche were forced to revise its strategy and they decided instead to inject new life into the 911. The 911 SC is commonly recognised as the benchmark of that decision, and with total sales reaching 58,914, the public had spoken...
When you consider the importance of this 911 in ensuring the future of what is still one of the world's best loved, most useable and most respected supercars, we now invite you to own this car, a beautiful 1981 SC in timeless Chiffon White paintwork and a genuine and almost unbelievable low mileage of fewer than 42,000 miles. This special 911 has resided with our vendor on the Isle of Man since 1994. When acquired, it had just done 30,000 miles and has wanted for nothing in its present ownership. Enjoyed by our vendor exclusively for pleasure driving, it could occasionally be seen undertaking early-morning laps of the TT circuit, plus tours of Scotland and the Lakes.
The brief for our vendor when he purchased this car was to acquire an unspoiled example of the iconic 911 in its purest form and from then on to take every care to preserve both its originality and condition. At the time of her 40,000 mile re-fit, adhering closely to the original long term health plan, a full top end engine overhaul was performed by MB Porsche, Cumbria in whom the owner has total confidence.
Other maintenance works carried at this time include:-New discs and pads front and rear. The pedal box fitted with new bush kit.A new stainless steel exhaust fitted.New front and rear windscreen seal rubbers. New front windscreenNew wipers front and rearNew front wiper motor.New heater blower.A new set of Pirelli P6000 N1 91W tyres fitted.
The Engine received a full top end overhaul (including replacement of cams/rockers, head studs/nuts).(Followed up at 41,000 by torque checks, valve clearance setting, oil and filter changes).
Although no dulling of performance had been felt it was, at 40,000 and perhaps more pertinently after 30 years, considered a prudent move to have the engine removed for thorough checks and an overhaul. Even allowing for the psychological aspect, the peace of mind that comes with this kind of pre-emptive care having been taken, the owner is impressed that the drive is now even slicker and the car has never been better. The original Blaupunkt stereo is present and in good working order but not used much as the real soundtrack comes from that inimitable hum and wail of the air cooled flat six.
The Porsche 911 is probably the most desired sports car in the world... ever. It is certainly one of the toughest and most durable and never before has a car consistently looked so good, sounded so good, and been able to be driven so hard for so long. The Porsche 911 has, deservedly, become a legend in its own lifetime, and this 911 is worthy of serious consideration today.
It is offered for sale with Registration document and a fresh UK MoT test certificate, however NOT with private registration. We would be grateful for the assistance from the lucky new purchaser in working with us to administer the transfer please.
