1983 Jaguar Kougar

This is not a replica but an impressive stand-alone design. The Kougar Sports car embodies elements of Frazer-Nash in its stark door-less roadster design. Unusually for this type of car, it used Jaguar S-Type components in a space frame chassis and could be supplied as an upmarket conversion or indeed in kit form. The roll-over bar, windscreen and weather gear were all optional. In time, a Rover V8 power option became available with the majority of models being sold to the USA. These were well built, high performance roadsters with the benefit of the Jaguar designed XK engine pushing out its full torque range with very little to hold it back. This Jaguar Kougar is finished in metallic burgundy red with cream interior. Powered by a trusty Jaguar 4.2 litre straight six engine mated to a 4-speed manual gearbox, this fibreglass bodied car is certainly not for the faint hearted and provides plenty of torque from low revs. Buyers should be aware that this lot has formed part of a large private collection and has been stood for some time in a heated environment, as such, some remedial works may be required. A light service has just been carried out by marque specialists Terry Keys and a mechanical report from Terry Keys will be supplied in the history file at the auction.

With the looks and performance of a much more expensive car, the Kougar represents an excellent two-seat open classic sportscar experience for less than the price of a new Ford Mondeo.
