DESCRIPTION
Porsche originally developed the 928 model as a replacement for the 911, although demand for the 911 remained strong and production continued, thus enabling Porsche to realign and showcase their performance and technology in a new top of the range Grand Tourer. The 928 was fitted with an aluminum V8 that was mated to a rear-mounted gearbox. The 928 featured a galvanised body with the addition of aluminum doors, bonnet and body-coloured plastic bumpers.
Following its release in 1977 the original 4.5-litre V8 was taken out to 4.7-liters, transforming the 928 into the 300bhp 928S model in 1982. In 1984 the 928 S2 was unveiled, the S2 model gave the V8 engine further development to 310bhp as a result of a higher compression and a new fuel-injection system. The S2 also offered the option of ABS for the first time on a Porsche.
This rare manual Porsche 928 S2 has been in single ownership from new. The car was originally a dealer demonstrator which was bought direct from the UK main agent by the current owner in 1984, having covered just 300 miles.
Following the purchase of the car in 1985, the owner had the car shipped to Munich, Germany where it was subject to the incredible Strosek body conversion. Along side the Strosek conversion the car was fitted with uprated Bilstein shock absorbers and white BBS wheels. The total sum for the work undertaken on the car was £9,500 back in 1985!
The owner has meticulously looked after the car ever since , an example of which is the placement of new floor mats place over the originals shortly after purchasing the car in 1984 to insure the longevity of the original mats, which now look as good as new!
Another testament to the immaculate condition of this car is the complete service history undertaken by Porsche specialists throughout it's life. The Service book is stamped from its first service at 1000 miles right up to its present day mileage of 100,340 miles. The car underwent a substantial service at 85,000 miles in which the clutch was replaced along with the brake discs and cambelt at a cost of £3,000.
This is a rare opportunity to own possibly one of the best and most unique 928s in existence, complete with a fresh 12 months M.O.T..
