DESCRIPTION
Everything that can be said about the immortal Mini has already been said! From the word go Minis were astoundingly successful on the race track and maybe even more so on the rally scene. The development of the Mini has carried on ever since and this car is an example of what can be achieved.
What we have here is a superb 1960's Mark II Mini Cooper S Replica with a 1,380cc engine. The full technical specification can be found in the history file and it is well worth taking a look how the current owner developed this amazing car. The engine, gearbox, suspension and interior has all been highly modified to an exceptionally high standard. More than £19,000 has been spent in parts to achieve the standard to which this car has been prepared and a large file of invoices and history substantiate this expenditure.
It started life as a 1985 1.3 Litre Mini Mayfair and has emerged as a 120+bhp flying machine (capable of being) fitted with Nitrous Oxide which will give it a further 25-30 bhp in quick bursts. That should be enough to see off the opposition! It was originally planned to be a track machine but that never materialised, instead it is a perfectly road legal, albeit wild, beast that looks exactly like an authentic Mk.II Cooper S.
The top speed may only be a mere 100 mph or so but it takes around 5.0 secs to get to 60 mph even without a hefty contribution from the now removed Nitrous Oxide system which accompanies this Lot!
The build was completed in 2003 and the current owner tells us that it has only done around 835 miles since.
The new owner has various options as to where to go next with this car... It could head off and be an entertaining track day, sprint, time trial or rally car or maybe used as a weekend toy going to Classic Car and "Mini Meets' and club Concours events.
This a great little car that has been well built and is highly developed, but above all it is road legal and great fun. If the new owners do plan to take it racing they would be well advised to make sure the car complies with current MSA and FIA regulations.
