1985 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2

Porsche revived the Carrera name, previously used for competition versions of the preceding 356 model, for its luxuriously equipped, top of the range 911 in 1973, and then applied the evocative title to all 911 variants with the introduction of the 3.2-litre engine, from the start of 1984. Although it remained an air-cooled 'flat six', the '3.2' motor was 80% new and incorporated an effective cam chain tensioner and associated lubrication system that at last addressed a perennial 911 shortcoming. This enlarged and extensively revised new engine produced 231bhp, 27 up on its predecessor, endowing the Carrera with excellent performance. 0-60 in 5.3, 0-100 in 13.6 seconds and a top speed of 152mph were figures not too far away from the legendary 1974 Turbo. Some 30 years on, Carrera 3.2s are now highly sought after, for very good reason, although finding one is not that easy.

Described as being in superb condition throughout, this beautiful black, left hand drive Carrera 3.2 was originally supplied and registered in the United States in June of 1985 (original COA from Porsche is included) and subsequently did very little mileage over the next 3 years being mainly used for display purposes in a showroom. The car was then exported to Japan in 1988 and, unlike many Japanese market cars where the service history runs dry, we are informed by the vendor that the service book contains stamps from "Mizwa Porsche' of Japan giving the following information: 09/11/1988 - 21602km, 30/03/1992 - 29225km, 25/07/1996 - 40468km, 17/04/2001 - 49906km, 05/10/2004 - 60371km, 14/05/2010 - 69822km.

B155 FPU was subsequently repatriated to the UK where it received an oil service by its current owner at 79,538kms and was then registered with a V5C on the 1st October 2014. The paintwork is in very good condition, all the panel gaps are reassuringly straight and the beautiful, well spec'd, Olive green leather interior also has the rare and desirable three-point rear seat belts, perfect for junior passengers. The original four-spoke steering wheel is also present and correct.

Sold with an odometer reading of just under 80,000 kms, which the vendor believes to be correct, and a fresh MOT, it's a superb example and a true testament to Porsche's reputation for building quality performance cars.
