DESCRIPTION
A very rare TWR XJS..
Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR) were a firm of motorsport engineers founded in 1976, in Kidlington, near Oxford, by Scottish entrepreneur and racer Tom Walkinshaw.
The company initially handled privateer work, before being persuaded to look after the works Touring Cars for manufacturers such as Mazda and Rover. However, TWR became most closely associated with Jaguar, a relationship which started in 1982 with the successful entry of the Jaguar XJ-S into the European Touring Car Championship, chalking up a number of wins that year. The relationship continued and by 1988, TWR-Jaguar had taken its first Le Mans victory in a V12-powered XJR-9 and this was closely followed by a further Le Mans win in 1990.
This particular car comes from a private collection and was last on the road in 2014. In addition to the TWR bodykit as fitted, we have no knowledge about whether there were any performance enhancing modifications to the engine and suspension. The MoT ran out in December 2014 and, at the time, had no advisories. With 69,000 miles indicated this XJS has plenty of life to give and presents well in White with a lovely blue leather interior with a little patina. At this level, the car could represent extremely good value for money and would be a welcome addition to any collection.
