1986 Mercedes-Benz 300SL

The first Mercedes 300SL saw the light of day in 1954 and featured those amazing "Gullwing Doors' The concept of a well-engineered, fast, comfortable "Grand Tourer' has carried on for some six design generations and is still with us today.

The 300SL model we have here today was manufactured between 1986 and 1989 and featured the 3.0 litre, six cylinder DOHC engine. At the time it was felt that despite the smaller, lighter engine the car handled marginally better than some of its predecessors.

D924 XCF was originally purchased from new by a "titled lady'. It came into the possession of the current owner three years ago and he has spent a fair bit of time and money keeping the car up to scratch. It was professionally repainted two years and the trim has received a small amount of revitalisation and as result the car looks excellent. It has a new hood, the wheels have been refurbished and it has new body sills. The vendor also had a set of rear seat belts fitted.This is not just a fair weather car; it comes with a factory hard top to keep the elements at bay!The history file contains plenty of information and the vendor tells us that around £20,000 have been spent on the car. It has now covered around 100,000 mile which in Mercedes terms means it is nicely run in.
