DESCRIPTION
The Peugeot 205 was produced between 1983 and 1998 and represented a major milestone in car design and performance. History is a little blurred as to who actually claimed the credit for the design, whoever it was probably saved Peugeot's life, who, at the time were going through a bad patch. This was a driver's car that was hugely enjoyable and very rewarding to drive. Even today it remains the benchmark by which the modern breed of hot hatchbacks are judged. The GTI version initially came with a 1.6 litre engine; it was followed by the 130bh 1.9 litre engine.
Offered here is a 1.6 205 GTi finished in Alpine White, sold to its first owner in London in January 1986. The second keeper took ownership of the car in 1990 and kept this lovely GTi until 2011 when it was then sold to its next owner.Included in the history file is a service book stamped 12 times, with the last major service being carried out only 50 miles ago in February of this year. All fluids were replaced, the cambelt was changed and a new radiator & exhaust were fitted. Also included with the car is the original owner's manual, 2 sets of keys and old invoices.
The interior presents nicely with no wear to the seats and only minor marks on the red carpets. The plastic trims are all in good condition, and the car benefits from having a fully operational sunroof. The car sits on its original 14"" pepper pot alloys, which have recently been refurbished and are clad with Michelin tyres.
Having covered a mere 36,150 miles from new, this car has clearly well been well loved and garaged all of its life as its shows no signs of deterioration both inside and out. Unmolested low mileage 205 GTi's are hard to come by, as most have now been modified, making this an extra special opportunity for the next owner.
