DESCRIPTION
- This 1986 SuperSport is a C16 (UK-supplied) right-hand drive car smartly presented in black with a grey leather and pinstripe cloth interior

- Owned by our vendor for an incredible 32 years and just three previous keepers
- Supplied with the original book pack containing the Owners' Handbook and stamped Service Book with ten stamps, 11 old MOT Certificates and some early invoices for work undertaken
- Last serviced in September 2020 at Brookfield Garage, specialist Porsche Centre, Stowmarket
- These are rare 911s and, when fitted with the 5-speed G50 gearbox, are real drivers' cars. At this mileage, in this condition and with excellent provenance, this example could well turn out to be a very sensible investment.
Development of the Porsche 911 Targa proceeded in line with that of its closed coupé cousin, the most notable advances immediately prior to the manufacture of this 1986 model having included the introduction of the 3.2-litre engine for 1984. Although it remained an air-cooled 'flat six', the '3.2' was 80% new and incorporated an effective cam-chain tensioner and associated lubrication system that at last addressed a perennial 911 shortcoming. With 230bhp on tap, the new 'boxer' motor endowed the Carrera with a stunning level of performance, the bald statistics being a 0-60mph time of 5.3 seconds and a top speed of 152mph. Although it enjoyed a 52 horsepower advantage, the Turbo was only marginally faster, having a top speed of 157mph, while most considered the normally aspirated 911 Carrera easier to drive. For the increasing number of customers that coveted the Turbo's distinctive 'wide body' look but did not need its marginally superior performance, Porsche introduced the SSE package, also known as the Supersport, which could be specified for other models in the 911 range. In addition to the wide body, the SSE (option code M491) included the Turbo's spoilers; suspension; four-piston brake callipers; 16" forged alloy wheels; and low-profile tyres. Only 75 right-hand drive examples were delivered to the UK making this model very rare indeed.
Looking very smart in Black with a classic eighties 'pinstripe' interior, this is one of those 75 right-hand drive examples and is on offer from 32 years long-term ownership, one of the family! It was supplied by Dick Lovett Specialist Cars of Marlborough to its first owner, a Mr David Greening of Cheltenham on the 1st of January 1986 and had two further keepers until 1989 when our vendor became the last owner. The car has been garaged throughout this period, apparently never been taken out in the wet and has been well cared for both mechanically and aesthetically.
D540 UOD is supplied with a complete book pack containing its handbook and the service book displaying ten stamps, the last being in September of 2020, completed by Brookfield Garage a specialist Porsche Centre in Stowmarket. To back up the service book there are a number of old invoices and 11 old MOT certificates within the file.
This is a really desirable 'M491' in a great colour and with lots of provenance. The 911 'Turbo-look' was mid-eighties era-defining and this rare example, sensibly guided, will reward any inspection.
