1987 BMW E30 M3

The sporting pedigree of the original E30 M3 is evident all the way from its race bred four cylinder engine ( designed to rev past 9000 RPM in race form) and dog leg five speed gearbox to those wide wheel arches, designed, not to look cool on the Kings Road, but to accept slick tyres of up to 10in in width. It has a design purity and simplicity of specification that hardly any modern car, and certainly not a new M3 can hope to match. Certainly today's M3 may have double the power but it isn't all about BHP. To really understand the M3 you need to get behind the wheel and drive one, and really drive it. Get hold of it by the scruff of the neck, give it some beans and you'll be approaching automotive nirvana. Today the E30 M3, in any of its iterations, is a wonderfully tight and responsive little saloon car, handling brilliantly with a crisp turn in, very little roll and famously communicative steering, making it easy to imagine that you are behind the wheel of a Touring Car that, in its short life won a dozen saloon car championships across the globe and made it without doubt BMW's finest car ever.

Offered here is an E30 M3, originally supplied by Autohaus Amelung GmbH, Waldbrol, Germany to its first owner in April 1987. The car is finished in Diamond Black and now has leather seats, although the cloth door cards suggest that the seats may have been changed at some point in it's life. The interior would benefit from a bit of TLC and a few minor tweeks to return it to optimum condition and the leather would respond to a bit of feed.

First registered in the UK in 1998, our vendor bought the car almost 6 years ago and, upon purchase, treated "D159 BMV' to a professional respray in its original colour. Work and family commitments have meant that he has only used the car sparingly, however, it has always been properly stored in a dry garage.Contained within the BMW book pack is the drivers manual and service book which has been stamped by the supplying dealer in Germany multiple times.
