Remarks

The original and beautiful looking Dorchester Grey over Talisman Silver paintwork was restored and suits the TWR Sport body-kit, originally fitted by Jaguar Marshalls of Liverpool, enhanced with 16" TWR Aero wheels of the same size all round with new tyres. SimplyPerfomance quad. outlet pipes were added, the centre silencer removed and their straight through pipes to new rear silencers enhance the sound of the V12 engine, giving it a purposeful sound without being intrusive.

Remarks

The original Magnolia leather trim has been cleaned and updated and is in very good condition for the age of the car (35 years old). The rear seat benefits from a pull-out section enabling the seat squad to be folded down to provide a full length loading area. New red wine carpets have been used throughout and the carpet protectors in the boot replicate Jaguar traditional craftsmanship. The superb trim work was carried out by Coventry Automotive Trim.

Vehicle History

Remarks

A full photographic record of the restoration is provided with the car and all receipts since purchase. Registration DDU 989 is also included with the sale, itself an old Coventry registration (and not too dis-similar to one of the works C-Types). The restoration of this car followed another hatchback conversion on a facelift 4.0L XJS also completed by the owner. As a Jaguar Engineer, the vision for the conversion was drawn in the early 80's and this car was back on the road in August 2018 after a 19-year "rest", saving it from loss. Great attention to detail has been paid restoring the car and in making the conversion look almost factory. There are some elements of the prototype nature of the car to consider, but these do not detract from the enhancements made (e.g. fuel filling into the bespoke fuel tank which just needs a little more time to allow the air pressure to balance and the tailgate which fits and seals reasonably well within the adjustment possible). There is also no loss of body stiffness with the car handling beautifully and sounding great from inside, with the hint of the performance exhaust not affecting the serene quietness, free of any creaks etc. of the interior when driving. It drives surprisingly quick when required too! The car also benefits from life membership of the XJS Club, so the new owner can enjoy the car even more with enthusiasts of the model. Everyone who sees the car loves it and it is a pleasure to own and talk about.
