1988 E30 BMW M3 DTM Recreation

The E30 M3 was the first purpose built saloon produced by BMW as a racing homologation special by BMW's in house Motorsport division. Introduced in 1986 as a road car, it did exactly what it was supposed to on the track and dominated Touring Car racing throughout the World taking countless titles including the prestigious German, Australian and British titles, not to mention the World Touring Car Championship in 1987. It was also a highly successful tarmac rally car - a British built Prodrive example winning the Tour de Corse outright in the WRC when driven by Bernard Beguin.

This car is a faithful replica of the famous 'Jagermeister' DTM car which raced in the late 1980's and early 1990's. Professionally built by BMD Motorsport with many correct period Group 'A' components at a cost of nearly double the estimate in this sale, it now offers a real value for money racing opportunity.

The shell is an accurate reproduction of a factory 'Matter' shell with correct gusseting, bracing and weld in integral roll cage. The engine is a 2.5 litre DTM spec, expertly built by Russ Cockburn of JC Racing. Running gear includes full Group A suspension front and rear- including suspension arms and a Group A adjustable rear beam, in car adjustable roll bars, centre lock wheels, Motorsport wiring loom and DTA engine management, 'AP' group A brakes all round, polycarbonate windows, stainless exhaust manifold and titanium exhaust, carbon airbox, multi-plate limited slip differential etc. etc.

Raced sparingly since being built (and with no accident damage), the car is eligible for and welcome in the CSCC Future Classic series, Pre-'93 Touring Cars and is offered on the button ready to go.
