DESCRIPTION
Owned by the current vendor for 17 years, this 1988 BRA 427 is presented in stunning Azure blue metallic with Old english white stripes and contrasting full beige/magnolia leather interior finished with blue piping, and Willans "E' marked full harness seatbelts.
This car has bespoke full wet weather gear, hood, side screens and full tonneau in quality navy mohair by "Don Trimming' of Birmingham
A Rover 3952cc all alloy unit is fitted with a 4-barrel Weber 500 carburettor on an Edelbrock "Performer' inlet manifold and a John Eales JE 101 Sports camshaft. 5 speed Rover manual gearbox, with Jaguar differential, brakes and running gear. 8"" front wheels are shod with 235/60x15, and 10"" rear wheels with 295/50x15 tyres - all Cooper Cobra "E' marked tyres.
The BRA 427 we are told uses a strong chassis of rectangular steel tube and one of the thicker GRP bodies styled in an authentic way replicating the deep body of the genuine 60's AC cars: Cobra Mk3 and the later AC 289.
Doncaster based Beribo Replica Automobiles supplied Cobra kits in the 80's and the wide-bodied 427 model BRA was developed by the talented Gerry Hawkridge of Hawk Cars fame. Unlike most Cobra replicas, the vendor informs us the BRA 427 has a spacious and comfortable 2"" longer cockpit that can accommodate drivers up to 6'6"" (2m) tall.
This car is taxed & Mot'd; correctly registered as a BRA 427 in 1988, using a 1970 Jaguar XJ donor.
