DESCRIPTION
There cannot be a man, woman or child in the civilised world that is not familiar with the Range Rover in one of its many forms, and they are for sale all over the country.
However, what we have here today is an exceptionally rare diesel variant of the 1988 Range Rover Classic, from a very short production run, and this much coveted, ultra reliable, record breaking 2.4TD diesel is in fact an unrestored, unmolested, fabulously original example with just a touch over 15,000miles indicated.
We are delighted to offer to Range Rover enthusiasts a car that ' Land Rover Monthly', during a feature in 2009, described as "extremely rare, if not unique', 'beauty in blue' - seldom do these rare "Rangies", in such remarkable condition come up for sale. Complete with its original registration number and offered exactly as Mr. Taylor received it on the 1st August 1988 from Knowles of Epperstone Ltd, Notts, this 15,074 mile example with manual gearbox is presented in Alaskan Blue with an excellent Grey Cloth interior. Optioned with Diamond-brite treatment to the paint and underside from new and apparently undersealed regularily and kept in a heated garage since, which may go someway to explaining the incredible condition that this RR is still in today.
A complete service history file, together with its original Range Rover wallet and booklets as well, and sundry invoices for regular maintenance, some correspondence between the first owner of twenty years and Merlin Land Rover - identifying him as a highly valued and loyal owner-such was the care and attention lavished on this pampered Range Rover Classic; plus importantly, a fully stamped service book starting in December 1988 at 1,160 miles and culminating in February 2015 at 14,995 miles - totaling 10 service stamps. This mileage claim is further corroborated by MOT certificates from 1991/92 at 7,017 miles, to 2010/11 at 14,914, before the car was taken off the road, and re-ticketed in January 2015 at 14,986 miles. A full breakdown of mileage records from MoTs and service intervals is available to support the warranted mileage to prospective buyers by request.
We simply cannot commend this vehicle highly enough. The condition, mileage and service record is second to none. As an auction house we know these cars are rare and sought after - we previously achieved more than £30,000 for a later LSE Range Rover with more miles. A wonderful rare Range Rover Classic, in super condition, inside and out that truly needs your considered attention.
