1989 Porsche 911 930 Turbo

The 911 Turbo, introduced in 1975 and remaining in production until 1989, was sufficiently different from previous versions to earn a new, 930, model number. Externally distinctive with its "Whale Tail" rear spoiler, wide tyres, bulging wheel arches and macho stance, 930s were also equipped with air conditioning, electric windows, a leather interior, tinted glass, headlamp washers and Bilstein shocks as standard. After two years the engine was enlarged from 3 litres to 3.3 and power outputs increased over time, from 260 to 330 bhp. Turbo lag was an ever-present problem, only really being resolved in the last year of production in 1989 with an engine re-map and the introduction of a five speed gearbox giving a much more useable power band.

With 330 horses available, mostly at the same time, a 4-speed gearbox and the 911's distinctive handling characteristics, inappropriate use of the throttle could quickly turn a scenic drive into a drive through the scenery, however the 1989, 5-speed car offered here is considerably more user friendly.

The, Guards Red, Turbo for sale today has been in the same ownership since 1993 and has been meticulously maintained and serviced at, either an Official Porsche Dealership, or an acknowledged Marque Specialist. The body and paintwork are in excellent condition as is the lovely original interior.

Service documents and the MoT Certificates support the claimed total mileage of 68,600 and the car comes complete with all the Owners Manuals, an original Porsche cleaning kit, puncture repair pack and two sets of keys.

With its "Tea Tray" rear spoiler and "Look at me" presence the 911 Turbo somehow came to represent the unfortunate excesses of the Eighties, but that image has faded over the last few years and the Turbo is now seen as a wonderful iconic classic Porsche.
