peterV5 and a good history file of work and servicing done to the car from new. This ZR1 was imported to the UK in 2000 and has remained in a Carcoon storage bubble since 2008 although has been started and had the necessary fluid and belt checks each month. Therefore, this ZR1 is operating as it should. The ZR-1 was a piece of engineering excellence from the out set as they intended to make the fastest production car in the world. Lotus created an all aluminum V8 with 4 overhead cams and 32 valves know as the LT5 that replaced the standard L98 V8. This wonderful engine produced 375bhp and 370 ftlb of torque which combined with the other unique features to the ZR-1 like its wider body, special design Goodyear wheels and tuned suspension meant that the car could get to 60mph in 4.4 seconds and on to a top speed in excess of 180mph. The wheels were in fact a startling 3 inches wider than a standard C4's and the wide body required to take them also needed redesigned doors, quarter panels and bumpers. It should also be added that the LT5 engine was not only exceeding fast but also exceptionally reliable and to prove this Chevrolet ran a stock ZR-1 and set a number of international and world records.
The interior of the car matches the exterior. A design of precision and style, the deep, electric buckets seats wrap themselves around you with the futuristic liquid crystal dash well designed and easy to read at a glance. The 6-speed gear lever is close to your right hand and has a firm, engineered throw. An interesting design feature to the car is a dash mounted "valet key' that limited the power (to 250bhp!). Another fine design on the car is the removable targa roof which when removed can be placed and locked in the rear of the car for storage. This makes taking the roof with you an easy option as you know it will not move around and damage itself. The car has an upto MOT (expiry 04/08/16). A very rare collectable car available today at a very competitive price.
