DESCRIPTION

Despite the fact that the 8v Integrale had dominated the 1988 World Rally Championship, Lancia knew that fur-ther development, and particularly more power, was needed to keep the car competitive with newer rivals. Accordingly, the 16v Integrale appeared a short time later and made a winning debut on the 1989 San Remo Rally.

The 16v Integrale was launched at the 1989 Geneva Motor Show. The new car could be distinguished from its predecessor by the raised centre of the bonnet to accommodate the new 16 valve engine. Other visible exteri-or changes were wider wheels and tyres and new identity badges front and rear. The torque split was changed to 47% front and 53% rear to give the car better handling characteristics.

The turbocharged 2-litre Lancia engine, already a powerful, refined performer was further developed for the Integrale 16v. Generating 200 bhp (149 kW) at 5500 rpm, it took the car to a maximum speed of 137 mph (220 km/h) and from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 5.5 seconds. Larger injectors provided higher power output and more effective use of the fuel feed at high engine speeds. The response of the Garrett T3 turbocharger was immediate, thanks to the reduced inertia of the turbine, and a highly efficient intercooler provided the driver with more power and greater reliability. The new over-boost system used a proportional electrovalve to in-crease engine torque to 220 lbf•ft (298 N•m) at 3000 rpm. All these improvements made the road-going version of the Integrale 16v a spirited, reliable and inherently safe car.

Offered here is a one owner from new Lancia Delta Integrale 16v, delivered by Official Lancia Dealer, Portelet Garage, Jersey, on 22nd February 1990. The original book pack contains the drivers manual, original warranty document and the service book which is stamped 18 times from the supplying dealer and specialists thereafter. Notably in '03, when the car had covered 63,505 miles a new engine was fitted, along with a new clutch, a new radiator and a full service carried out.

The car has recently benefited from going through the workshops of a Ferrari Main Dealer for a thorough service, and shortly after has had a full respray in it's original colour with Martini decals being added at the same time. The interior of the car is tidy and presents well. Sitting on its 15" wheels the whole car looks fabulous.

Currently reading, what we believe to be, a genuine 71,179 miles on the odometer, "G460 OKY' will arrive at the auction with a fresh MoT and a UK V5C and is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner. Whilst the prices of the later Evoluzione cars continue to swell, this one owner 16v Integrale provides a fantastic afforable entry into the ownership of a true rally icon!
