Not many people remember that back in 1990 the most expensive production car you could buy in the UK was not the Rolls Royce Silver Spirit, but in fact the Mercedes-Benz top of the range 500 SEC.

The 5.0-litre silky smooth fuel-injected V8 coupled with a 4-speed auto box was a sublime combination and offered in three versions of the 'S' class - 500SE 4 door saloon, 500SEL long-wheelbase saloon and the flagship 500SEC Coupe.

Availability was extremely scarce with just a few hundred Coupe versions allocated annually in the UK, mostly to celebrities and industry leaders of the time.

Here we have a rare original UK 500SEC, with just one registered keeper and a warranted 73,744 miles covered from new. The comprehensive history file shows bills, receipts and old MOTs confirming the mileage as genuine with Evans Furniture of High Wycombe as the sole registered keeper throughout.

Finished in Arctic White with smart Blue Grey leather upholstery, the car also has Lorinser period wheels which both lower the car's profile and add to its dramatic appearance and look. It's in real time-warp condition and drives very smoothly, quickly and quietly just as it did back in the day.
