1990 Mini Cooper RSP

In September 1990, the Mini Cooper RSP (Rover Special Products) was introduced. The RSP was the first Cooper in 19 years and the first Mini with a 1,275 cc engine in a decade. It was, to this point, the only non-Works Mini fitted with an oil cooler as standard. The production of 1,050 for the UK was nowhere near enough. It was an instant success and sold out even before cars began to appear in showrooms. The distinctive look was enhanced with white bonnet stripes with John Cooper signatures. Offered here is one of the 1,050 RHD units made with just 264 miles recorded and finished in the rare combination of black with white roof and white Cooper stripes. The interior is the black Cooper RSP trim with half leather. The specification included sunroof, Philips R570 stereo, twin driving lights, colour coded mirrors and wheel arches and 12" RSP alloys. The Mini was purchased new on the 25th September 1990 by Mr Leslie Buckley of Romiley, Stockport from Manchester Rover dealer, Horners Limited. It was used for circa 4 months - covering just 180 miles - before Mr Buckley put the Mini into long term storage. In February 2012, the Mini passed onto its second custodian, Mr Peter Lee of Hythe, Southampton, having covered just 209 miles from new. The underside still shows the original factory wax and the sign-off stickers are still present under the bonnet. The Mini Cooper RSP is complete with its original owners books and manuals, the original sales brochure, spare keys and toolkit. It is still on it's original Pirelli Cinturato CN54 tyres. The whole look is complemented by the registation G13 RSP (GB RSP). This Cooper surely represents a great investment that requires absolutely nothing except a new home.
