1990 Porsche 964 Carrera 2

Rather than one of the cars that came straight out of the factory all ready to go, this 911 was originally built up from a Carrera 2 bare shell by AFN (Porsche UK) as a race car. It was subsequently raced in the Pirelli Porsche Club Championship in the early 1990's by legends such as Barry "Whizzo" Williams, Tony Dron, Mark Hales, Steven Radcliffe, Kevin Pullen and Mark Sumpter, with a lot of success. The car was then sold to Demon Tweeks and was raced by company MD, Alan Minshaw, until an accident necessitated a new shell. A new 964RS specification shell was supplied and again the car was built to Cup specification by Gordon Wardle Racing (GWR) and raced again with more notable drivers including Adrian Slater and Clive Bailey, with good results. It's since been owned and used as a track day machine, having been worked on by marque experts 'Ninemeister' of Warrington in recent years.

The engine is the non-Varioram 3.6-litre from the 993 Carrera and is fitted with a custom exhaust system, K&N induction kit and, most effectively, a Motec M48 ECU - which has been fitted recently and re-mapped by Ninemeister themselves to produce 320bhp.

It is also fitted with the fantastic 'G50' five-speed gearbox with racing limited slip differential and modified final drive to help put all that power down smoothly.

In addition to the full race car "strip out', it comes with canary yellow paint work and competition roll cage, there are also Porsche Recaro race seats, a plumbed-in fire extinguisher, racing Sparco steering wheel, modified pedals and Schroth racing harnesses.

The chassis spec is superb, with bespoke engine mounts, front upper strut brace, white ultra-lightweight magnesium 17-inch wheels by Dymag and drilled four-pot race brakes (front and rear). It also has "White Power' fully adjustable coil-over suspension kit, with remote dampers mounted inside the car.

Tim Schrick, the famous German racer and TV star, drove this car and said: "Without any doubt, this is easily the nicest Porsche 964 I've ever driven. It's so easy to drive fast and has the perfect suspension set-up and power delivery. It is a great pleasure to drive."
