1991 E34 BMW M5 3.6 Saloon

This car received a body restoration at a cost of £5000 / 7220 euros in August 2014, a detailed invoice and photographic record on a USB stick are included in a large accompanying history file.

Presented in Macao blu metallic with contrasting grey leather interior, this original UK supplied right hand drive 1991 M5 3.6 saloon is supplied with a fresh UK MoT certificate and a Nova number and is ready to be re-registered in the UK.

Below is a copy of part of an email outlining work carried out by the body restorer, to the vendor dated 22nd August, 2014. (A copy of this letter in full is supplied in the history file).

The objective of the work was to restore the paintwork of the car, replace all damaged trim and seals, remove corrosion from the fuel tank and the sun roof. The original quote for €7000.00 included the removal of the boot, bonnet, front wings, sun roof, doors, bumpers, body trim, rubber seals, light fittings, removing the door cards and glass. Preparation of the body shell, panels and bumpers for painting, priming with epoxy primer and painting with the original BMW paint codes. Protective sealing underneath the floor pan, wheel arches and fuel tank was also included.

During the above process the bottoms of the doors, sills, lower sections of the quarter panels and sun roof were media blasted to remove corrosion prior to being treated with epoxy primer. The boot carpet has also been cleaned to remove a stain. All paint, primers, body shop miscellaneous items, blast materials, blasting and painting overheads, underseal etc was included in the original quote Additional work which became obvious as the work progressed included the following: Replacing the lower sections of the front wings due to corrosion behind the side skirtsRepairing corrosion damage to the passenger side floor areaRefurbishing wheel rims to eliminate corrosion (These were blasted, epoxy primed, corrosion marks filled and finally painted)Replacing corroded rear bumper damperRepairing corrosion damage to the inside and outside of the lower parts of both A pillarsClean all fuel and brake pipes and examine for corrosionReplacing one section of fuel pipingRemoving the original fuel tank due to corrosion / leaks and replacing it with a new fuel tank. The parts for the restoration, which include a variety of trim clips, bumper guards, body trims, door trims, door seal, sun roof seal, fender covers, mouldings, bumper damper, wheel decals, body decals, fuel tank, headlamp clips and door handle rubber seals.
