SUMMARY
Undoubtedly the ultimate 964, the mighty Turbo 3.6.
DESCRIPTION
Very rare, one of only 159 right-hand drive cars ever manufactured From the private collection of the Sultan of Brunei. Only 20,000 miles Recent Service, MoT, and Porsche 230-point Inspection with written report In magnificent condition. Grand Prix White with an immaculate Linen interior Supplied with original Handbook pack, history file, MoTs, UK V5c Representing a major step forward for the 911, the new Carrera 4 and Carrera 2 - codenamed '964' - were launched in 1989, the former marking the first time that four-wheel drive had been seen on a series-production 911. Porsche had experimented with four-wheel drive on the 959 supercar, and many of the lessons learned from the latter influenced the design of the 964's chassis and suspension. Face-lifted but retaining that familiar shape, the Carreras had been given a more extensive work-over mechanically, 87% of parts being claimed as entirely new. Although the normally aspirated duo shared the same 3.6-litre, 247bhp, flat-six engine, the Turbo initially kept its existing 3.3-litre unit, which now developed 320bhp. Power-assisted steering (another 911 'first'), anti-lock brakes and a five-speed manual transmission were standard, with the Tiptronic auto 'box a Carrera 2-only option. In October 1992 the Turbo received the 3.6-litre engine, which in 'blown' from now produced a mighty 360bhp. This stunning Grand Prix White 911(964) Turbo 3.6 was delivered on 30 September 1993 directly to the Sultan of Brunei's car collection from Porsche AG Stuttgart. It is believed that Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah acquired 30 of the 159 right-hand drive cars manufactured to add to his personal collection of over 7,000 cars. After limited use in Brunei, it was conveyed to the UK in 1999 having the odometer changed from km to miles. Supplied with a significant number of MoTs and the cars service records substantiating the 19,000 miles this 911 has accrued. The gleaming Grand Prix White paint finish and unblemished Speedline split-rim wheels are all commensurate with the low recorded mileage. Our vendor purchased this Turbo 3.6 during 2005 and has subsequently used it very little adding only an additional 4000 miles approx during the last 12 years. When not in use, it has been dry stored in his home garage and is only being sold to help fund a new project. Prior to the sale, this fabulous 911 is going to be subject to a fresh MoT, a scheduled service, and a Porsche Inspection with the report being available to any interested parties. This is a stunning example of the ultimate and most sought after 964 variant - the mighty 964 3.6 Turbo. **** Service not completed prior to sale - Vendor will contribute ú2000 towards cost of service ****
