They have flared the wheel arches due to widening the track of the car to improve the handling and then added bonnet bulges, vents in the wings and Chasseur bumpers to give it the tasty but street sleeper look.

Remarks

It has had a £10,000 full engine re build to bring it back to its glory as this is the higher mileage car of the two. Engine- Bored out to a 4.2L. Dry liners, lightened race spec pistons, blue printed from the crank up, gas flowed head with larger valves. Then they added a 2nd bank of injectors so when the turbos kick in, it opens the 2nd bank of injectors to liven things up even more. Oh yeah, so they added 2 whacking great turbos with intercoolers too. The turbos are not small and the intercoolers are cleverly hidden behind the front bumper.... then because of that modification, they had to move the gear oil radiator down to the back of the car behind the rear bumper because there isn’t room for it at the front any more. There is a lot of little mods because of the big mods. You have to see them and go look over them to appreciate them. Also it has twin ECUs and twin induction system to keep up and control all the mods.

Drive-Shaft:

Remarks

This is still automatic but they have added tiptronic buttons on the steering wheel. Internally they have strengthened the internals and added race clutch plates and strengthened Chrome-molybdenum bearings to be able to handle the power. This was not a option on the lower spec models. Only the 450.

Vehicle History

Remarks

So, They started off life as a standard XJ6 4.0L, costing around £42,000 each at the time. Original bill is £42,543.65p to be exact…. Then they went off to a company called Paramount Performance where they were ripped to bits and had everything overhauled and up graded to Chasseur 450 Tornado spec. Engine, gearbox, brakes, suspension, etc costing another £35,000 plus. Each car was approx. £75,000 plus…..EACH. But cost isn’t the point, the modifications and rarity of 2 of 2 is the point. When the X300 model came out, Chas Whitaker decide to go a few steps further. Apparently the prototype engine for this kicked out 525BHP. 587BHP at the flywheel. But for reliability reasons they wound it back to 450BHP and electronically restricted them to 175MPH…… It took them 20 months to build the 1st car (Number 1). In comparison the Lotus Carlton..... It’s a Jaguar version of a Lotus Carlton, which as we all know...... back in the 90s, these were the mutts nuts and nothing could catch it. 380BHP I think they were. 3.6 single turbo. But a hell of a car and still stupidly fast. But the only other 4 door family saloon car (that I or anyone else can think of) that was on par with one,……was a Chasseur 450 Tornado... It’s a 4 door family car in Ferrari territory basically. And a Lotus Carlton was exactly that too. And if you can find one of those they £80,000-£125,000 just for 1. Apparently 320 Lotus Carltons were built originally….. But only 2 of these Chasseur 450s….. And here they are. Slight difference in production numbers and this is why not many people know exactly what these Chasseurs are.
