1995 Ford GT40 Reincarnation

A decade on from its final Le Mans win the GT40 had become firmly established as one of the all-time great classic high performance sports cars. This led to an increased demand for unmolested originals and the start of a replica building industry. With just 107 GT40s being constructed at Ford's Advanced Vehicles Slough factory between 1965 and 1972, it's hardly surprising that a cottage industry of independent manufacturers arose to satisfy demand for this iconic car. One such manufacturer was the Penn Motor Company who, in the hands of former salon car champion Gordon Mayer, quickly gained a reputation for building the best replicas that money could buy.

Purchased by the vendor in 2006, with only 530 miles on the clock, this particular GTD 40 was built in 1995 and is an exact replica of the 1966 MK 1 Le Mans winning GT40 and is painted in US racing colours. We are informed that this car is built to the highest standard and all panels are made from the original moulds. It can be used as a competition car but we are informed it is also a very capable road car. Whether it's trundling through small villages with that fabulous exhaust noise echoing off stonework or pressing on out on the open road, it's an incredible experience and an exclusive one at that.

The engine is a 4942cc, commonly known as the 302 small block , this is mated to an 820 Holly carburettor with duel fuel pumps, filters and tanks. It comes with the original GTD build manual, wiring diagrams and current loadings, performance figures and graphs. It also has all those important MOT certificates from when it was purchased in 1996 which warrant the 13700 miles. It is still as original today as the day it was built in 1995 and has been maintained to a high standard by its current owner. Sold with a full 12 months MOT, this car really does offer the meanest, leanest, hardiest and fastest road experience ever, not to mention it's incredible looks ... this really is an automotive icon.
