1995 Jaguar XJS 4.0 Sport

The Jaguar XJS was a luxury grand tourer produced by Jaguar from 1975 to 1996. The XJS replaced the iconic E-Type in September 1975, and was based on the XJ Saloon. Although it never had quite the same sporting image, the XJS was a competent grand tourer, and more aerodynamic than the E-Type.

From July 1981 the XJS received the new High-Efficiency engine and at the same time received changes to its exterior and interior which have become synonymous with Jaguar. New five-spoke alloy wheels, chrome inserts on the upper part of the bumpers, wood inserts on dashboard and door cappings became standard and remained a cornerstone of Jaguar luxury throughout the 90's.

The exceptional example offered for sale here today is an XJS 4.0L Sports Coupé. Boasting only 3 former keepers from new, the last owner since January 1996, this car is finished in stylish Graphite Mica with full Saville hide and light grey carpets, all of which remain in as-new condition as you'd expect from a car that has covered just 16,000 miles.

Originally built with a speedometer measured in kilometres, it is assumed that this righthand drive car may have been intended for export to an overseas Serviceman. This never materialised,however, and the car spent its early days in London before the speedo was changed at 4,911 kilometres (3,050 miles) for a correct UK unit now showing 13,320 at time of cataloguing (c16,000 miles combined).
