1998 Porsche 993 C2S Tiptronic

Porsche manufactured the 993 from 1993 through to early 1998, its discontinuation then marked the end of the air-cooled Porsches. There were many technical improvements over the outgoing 964. The rear suspension was now alloy together with the sub-frame which made for far better handling and ride. The transmissions were improved in both the manual, now six speed - a first for Porsche - and the Tiptronic gearbox became more sophisticated, recognising gradients and descents and so improving the driving experience. Mechanically, the brakes and exhaust systems were all improved. The bodywork was revised to give a more rounded style, with a genesis that is apparent in today's 911s'. Engine development included Porsche's VarioRam induction system that improved the torque characteristics of the engine, which greatly improved the overall performance. It was a standard feature from 1996 onwards.

On offer here is a rare and very late original UK registered 993 Carrera 2S from February 1998. The "S' came with the turbo bodywork and were ordered in very limited numbers. Finished in Midnight Blue metallic with grey leather it has only covered 69,300 miles and has a complete service record. The additional factory ordered extras are the sunroof, carbon-backed seats, xenon lights, on-board computer, Porsche Classic satellite navigation and speaker upgrades making this a very attractive specification.

The original air-cooled Porsches are now truly acknowledged as the last of the "real Porsches' both by owner/drivers and dealers. Values have been rising and demand is now outstripping the supply of correct cars. With its low mileage, sensible guide price and rare turbo bodywork this Porsche 993 Carrera 2S requires a close look.
