SUMMARY
Real-world GT ability combined with timeless elegance and originally owned by a top motor racing personality.
DESCRIPTION
- UK-supplied through Maranello Sales, Egham, Surrey
- Finished in Argento Nurburgring with a Bordeaux hide interior
- The original owner was a certain Mr Martin Brundle
- Only three owners in total with the last for eleven years
- Just over 60,000 miles, a great 'drivers' mileage for a big Ferrari
- Comprehensive service history detailing the present owner's fastidious attention to detail
- Documented cambelt changes in 2013, 2016 and more recently in 2019
- Original owner's manuals and service book are present in their Ferrari leather wallet
Firmly placed in Ferrari's history as one of their finest big GTs, the 550 Maranello's combination of its stylish Pininfarina lines and front-mounted 12-cylinder engine meant that this car had the potential to become an instant classic, following in the footsteps of its forebear, the 365 GTB/4 'Daytona'. With modern styling cues, a 5.5-litre V12 engine producing around 485bhp and a reported top speed of 199mph, the 550 Maranello was a serious motor car. A less frenetic power delivery, the six-speed manual box and excellent weight distribution were all factors in the 550 becoming the perfect European Grand Tourer.
The example we have on offer today was supplied on the 8th March 1999 to one Mr Martin Brundle, through Maranello Sales, Egham, Surrey. Finished in Argento Nurburgring with the de-rigour Scuderia wing-shields complemented by contrasting Bordeaux hide interior, Bordeaux carpets and rear parcel shelf, electric seats and climate control.
All the original owner's manuals and service book are present secreted away in their Ferrari leather wallet which is also home to a myriad of service invoices and MOT Certificates covering the present custodian's attention to detail whenever work was required. Used on a regular basis, not only for the odd jaunt in the local area but also for European tours, the Ferrari has been fastidiously maintained throughout its time with recent stamps in the service book confirming cambelt changes in 2013, 2016 and more recently in February 2019.
Having covered some 60,000 plus miles, a Ferrari 550 of this ilk with a comprehensive history, that has been used regularly will generally drive better than the tiny mileage examples and within the industry, legend has it that
