1999 Ferrari 360 Modena

In 1999, Ferrari knew it was time to replace their much loved 355. The 360 was introduced to critical acclaim and immediately set a new benchmark for supercar styling and performance. The 360 Modena design was revolutionary making extensive use of lightweight materials throughout. The 360's construction resulted in a much lighter car along with increased rigidity. Ferrari also paid particular attention to improving the under body aerodynamics and thus the 360 boasts a completely flat bottom with two prominent rear diffusers. The 360's engine produced a staggering 400bhp from just 3586cc, this resulted in a 0-60 time of just 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 186mph. Pininfarina produced an exceptionally clean profile without the need for additional wings, flares or blisters. One of the other striking features is the large glass rear screen that proudly displays the engine in all its glory. Introduced at the Geneva Show in March 1999 the 360 Modena, not unsurprisingly, swelled Ferraris order books and within weeks there was a two-year waiting list.

Presented here is a left-hand drive Ferrari 360 Modena with an F1 gearbox. This example is rather unusual in that it is the only known 360 to have been painted at the factory in the striking colour of Orange Flame. It was originally purchased in Kuwait, but was used and driven in London when new. The car then found its way to Germany with its second owner. It has covered a total mileage of 38,540 kilometres or 23,947 miles and will be driven by a Silverstone Auctions employee direct to the auction. A cam belt service has just been carried out and this car is ready to be used and enjoyed by its next owner.
