The BMW Z8 was initially a concept styling exercise to evoke and pay homage to the stunning BMW 507 produced in the late fifties. Due to the sensation it caused at the 1997 Tokyo Auto Show, BMW decided to go into production and produced 5,703 Z8's from 1999 - 2003 with approximately half going to the USA. Unsurprisingly, for such a beautiful design it received the highest accolade by featuring in the 1999 Bond film, 'The World Is Not Enough'. The Z8 was an engineering indulgence by BMW, featuring an aluminium space frame body and the famous 5-litre DOHC 32-valve V8 engine producing 400 bhp situated behind the line of the front axle, giving the Z8 virtually perfect 50/50 weight distribution and enabling it to out-perform its contemporary benchmark rivals in all departments. The Ferrari 360 Modena was left inadequate in terms of performance, handling and braking. Road tests by period magazines frequently better the quoted 0-60 times supplied by BMW and many achieved figures of circa 4 seconds. Most remarkable was its pure driving pleasure and its effortless 'Grand Tourer' capabilities. BMWs mantra of 'The Ultimate Driving Machine' was certainly appropriate when it came to the Z8.
Offered here is a stunning Z8 first registered in the UK in November 2002. Supplied new finished in Titan silver metallic paintwork with black Nappa leather interior, an elegant and timeless combination as seen in the 'Bond Film' - The World is Not Enough. Options include; Anthracite headlining, UK-specification and 6 CD-Changer.
Today this particular Z8 presents in superb condition inside and out with gleaming silver metallic paintwork retaining an even finish across the car and a deep gloss, panel gaps are uniform and alloy wheels are virtually unmarked. Inside the interior show little signs of wear, the hood appears in good condition and operates correctly. The history file includes the BMW book-pack with service booklet stamped up-to-date. The most recent service conducted by Snows BMW main agent in August 2020 @29,744 miles.
This sought after European spec Z8 is being offered from a private collection of carefully selected iconic cars, and we hope that the new owner will continue to preserve the car for future generations to experience. With premium manufacturer design teams fully focused on developing new 'eco' technologies, these high performance, high quality, low production concept cars are likely to be unrepeatable. For this reason, the Z8, in particular, will remain something of a 'Holy Grail' for all noteworthy car collections and rarely come to market.
