2006 Bentley Azure 6.7 Convertible

The Azure was the ultimate Bentley convertible, hand built at Crewe between 1995 and 2009, it was a last hoorah for the faithful and traditional 6.75-litre V8 engine. The model was continuously developed over its 15-year production run with the final version launched in the 2006 model year. The revised Azure was now based on the Arnage platform and power was provided by the, then-current, variant of the Bentley turbocharged V8 making 450 hp (340 kW) and 645 lb·ft (875 N·m) of torque. The new Arnage was initially designed for the BMW 4.4-litre engine, however, due to a strained relationship between the two manufacturers, Volkswagen was forced to significantly re-work the original 6.75-litre Rolls-Royce/Bentley V8 into a new twin-turbo, ultra modern technology spec and a new six-speed automatic transmission fed all this power to the rear wheels. Bentley claimed a 0 to 60 time of 5.6 seconds and a top speed of 168 mph (270 km/h), slightly faster than the previous edition and still very good for a vehicle of this size and weight.

This 2006 model, offered on behalf of Nick Whale Sportscars Ltd, is the final specification of the Bentley Azure and is finished in Dark Sapphire Blue metallic with Magnolia leather upholstery and a Navy Blue hood. It has covered only 1,450 miles from new. Purchased from a UK Bentley dealer by the father of a close friend to Silverstone Auctions M-D, Nick Whale, it then went to live on the Island of Guernsey as part of a small private collection. Used infrequently but stored correctly it was the jewel in the collection until the sad passing of the owner in 2016. Immediately after returning to the mainland the car was given a full engine and hydraulic service by a Bentley main dealer on 11.10.16 at 1,429 miles. This service, along with one Bentley main dealer service when in Guernsey, completes the history file as does the current MOT, completed on the 07.09.2016 at 1,343 miles with no advisories.
