SUMMARY
DESCRIPTION
The Ducati Monster is a motorcycle designed by Miguel Angel Galluzzi and produced by Ducati in Italy since 1993. It is a "naked' bike, characterised by an exposed engine and frame. The deliberate use of the trellis frame in the Ducati monster is an integral part of the motorcycle's design allowing for both aesthetic appeal and for structural efficiency. In 2005 Monster sales accounted for over half of Ducati's worldwide sales. Ducati motorcycles use almost exclusively 90° V-twin engines, which they call L-twins, with desmodromic valves and tubular steel trellis frame, features designed by Fabio Taglioni.
The Monster line has had numerous variations over the years, from the entry level 400cc bike up to top of the line 130hp multivalve, water-cooled superbike-engined versions, with as many as nine different Monster versions in a single model year.
In November 2005, a new top of the range model was announced: The S4R S Testastretta similar to the bike offered here from 2008. This new model uses the engine from the 999 Superbike with Öhlins suspension front and rear and radial front brakes. Boasting 130hp delivered through a capable 6-speed gearbox, the whole package weighs no more than 177kgs and delivers performance ahead of rival machines from BMW or Triumph.
This S4R S has covered just 4,000kms from new and is described by the vendor as being in as-new standard condition making it a rare motorcycle in such exemplary order. It is offered to auction complete with correct owners manual, two sets of operating keys, a full leather race suit, helmet, boots and gloves, plus it benefits from the addition of an in-garage specialist trickle charger and garage storage stand.
Currently on a Singaporean registration, bidders should please note that there is import duty to be paid on the overall price of this machine at the UK rate of 20% if it remains in the EU.
